Moderator of r/ACMilanStickied post

Hi everyone,

Few days ago there was a post in which the community as a whole discussed the current state of the sub and as moderators we took each and every opinion into consideration, discussed it amongst ourselves and members of the community and drafted the new rules of r/ACMilan. Before we dive into the changes to the sub, we want to point out that our main goal is to make this sub the place for Milan fans to discuss topics about our beloved the Club. With this in mind, we’ve come up with the following rules:

  • Tier 4 to 5 sources have now been banned except predicted line-ups by Gazzetta dello Sport. We believe that allowing any sort of news from untrustworthy sources goes against the whole point of having a sub where fans can come to for legitimate news on AC Milan. We also highly discourage the use of aggregate sources, even if the actual source to the article is Tier 1, 2 or 3, try your best in finding the original article. For Milan News please make sure that the article either contains “MN” in the title or is written by Pietro Mazzara or Antonio Vitiello.

  • Memes will now also be banned. We have seen a high number of meme posts lately which were funny and all, but they don’t add much to the discussion. However, we still want humorous content on the sub and memes will be allowed to be shared on the Free Talk Friday thread.

  • Finally, the last thing that will be banned are low effort opinion posts. Similarly, to the memes, these have been having a resurgence and often there are multiple posts about the same opinion. This will substantially reduce the number of impulsive posts we’ve been seeing on the sub.

To improve the sub’s quality banning stuff isn’t enough and for that reason we will start introducing various posts to encourage mature discussions during important periods/chapters of the Club. However, we will also keep these posts to a minimum, to also encourage the community to take the initiative in making posts. We also highly encourage good formatting when high quality posts are made, please check this article out on all the formatting techniques available for Reddit. To improve your experience on Reddit the use of the Reddit Enhancement Suite extension is also recommended.

Also for any Italian speakers we highly encourage you to contribute with translating interesting articles from reliable and trustworthy sources, whether its finance (Calcio e Finanza), opinion articles (Pietro Balzano for Sport Mediaset) or even articles regarding the Youth Team. Feel free to post these as a text post with pleasant formatting and just add the source at the bottom of the post. That will suffice and it will keep your post nice and neat. Something like this would be perfect.

With the rules out of the way, we want to also make you aware of our plan to update the sub graphics, but we need your help. We are currently looking for an individual who can contribute the sub with their css skills. If you think you could the right person to give r/ACMilan a makeover, please get in touch with the mods and we will discuss it.

Also congratulations to us for passing 15k subscribers, wasn't too long ago we were at 3k, but we continue to grow despite the disappointing results!
