The Iran Contra hearings ruined my summer vacation in second grade. I wanted to stay in and watch whatever trash was on TV back then. But I was stuck with Oliver North. No cable. Four channels. All of them showing the same thing, except for CBC (which we got in Detroit), which was showing weird Canadian shit.
Man, I can remember vividly. I have an especially clear memory of building a lego boat out of spare parts while sitting in the family room with the Iran-Contra hearings in the background. I was 12 and didn't really understand what the hell was going on, but I can picture that boat in my hands with the TV in the background. Funny how some things just stick. 32 years later and it may as well have been yesterday, one of my clearest memories from those younger years.

Trump attempting repeatedly to gut the Corporation for Public Broadcasting shows why it's important that PBS needs to be around.
President Trump’s proposed 2020 federal budget, which was released on March 11, would eliminate all taxpayer funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting over a two-year timespan, cutting the organization’s annual appropriation in the first year from $465 million to $30 million, or 94 percent. More than 70 percent of the CPB’s annual funding goes to local public TV and radio stations.
Edit: Thank you, kind stranger for the gold.
